Cyclor 2-up Hardcopy Wand

For a few years this was one of a couple of unidentified Visionaries 2-Up resin hard copy pieces which we own, that was until we purchased additional paperwork to track down who Madricain was.
We purchased this wand with some other series 2 hardcopy shields and this, along with one other item, were items we we could tie up to any paperwork we owned or published marketing material. All we knew was that the resin 2-up appeared to be a wand and like some of the other Hardcopies from Visionaries series 2 which we own, it included a product code assigned to it (in this case on an external label rather than written on to it. The label included the following mysterious information
- The text VIS, MADRICIAN which indicate to us that the item was indeed intended to be a wand and not some early version of Cryotek's mace. The word Madrician we thought may well be a deliberate misspelling of magician, although it could be something else or an early name of a figure (such as Cavedweller was for Craggor)
- The product code #704128-26M we thought would be the most important piece of text on the item as the code would tie up with a worksheet to give more details on the origin of the piece. Unfortunately we do not know which sculptor worked on the item and have therefore not been able to obtain this information
- The date 9-14-87 the date in which the item was finished (in US date format), the 14th September 1987
It is the only Visionaries weapon 2-Up that we own, and have seen, which is white and not grey. The ends of the wands have some nice circular detail, which we thought could be painted into eyeballs.
The Wand also looks a little like a tree, with 7 branches coming off it. The handle has an unusual design with a large angled piece at the bottom. This fits fairly well into the blades of the Unknown 2-Up to balance. The detail on the handle is quiet exquisite
The most disappointing part of this two up, other than not knowing exactly what it is and where it was from, is that it is broken. The stem if the wand is quiet thin, and when the item is reduced to full size (1/2 of the 2/up) it would have been very brittle and likely to break - which may be why it was not produced.
This article was original written and unpublished in 2014 when we were still researching this item. We managed to get in touch with the Gentile brothers in 2015-2016 and asked them about this item and were told that Madricain was planned to be a nemesis for Merklynn in series 2 but would be more of a techno mage rather than a tradition Wizard. Looking back at the papwerwork we had we decided that Madriacain was most likely the original name for the character that would latter become Cyclor. This was based on his look, some paperwork we had that seem to suggest his holograms had eyes. A few years later we then picked up more paperwork for the series two figures and from that we were able to confirm this theory as the name Madricain was included on paperwork for Cyclor along with additional designs that included the eye motif.
